The City of Dallas is like most of the cities in the United States. It is undergoing an ethnic, socioeconomic transition and a spiritual revolution that is leading us away from God. Once considered a center of conservative, evangelical Christianity, Dallas is now filled with half-full church buildings and half-hearted Christians. Reaching out to those without Christ, once a hallmark of our faith, is no longer practiced by the vast majority of Christians. We are too preoccupied with taking care of ourselves and our friends. Because our our comfort and prosperity, we have fallen into a deep spiritual slumber. And this, at a time when we need to be awake and on the alert.
A small group of East Dallas pastors, laymen and churches are beginning to gather together on Wednesday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00 am to pray that God will awaken East Dallas, that the people in our part of the city who call themselves followers of Jesus Christ, will humble themselves and pray, forsake their wicked ways and seek God's face, and that when they do, God will cause His face to shine upon the City and that He will bring real revival to His people. We invite you to join us. You don't have to be any particular denomination or member of the clergy. If you would like to pray with us for revival, join us at the Forest Meadow Baptist Church facility at 9150 Church Rd., Dallas 75231. For more information, write to me at tim@fmbcdallas.org.
